The  main  responsibility  of  this  section is to Design, implement, manage  and maintain  the  campus local area   network  (LAN),  interconnecting    the  campus network to the  JUNET  networks  as  internet  service provider(ISP), implementing security policies by using best PIX Firewall and  IDS  setup, and  monitoring  the networks behavior. The university   LAN  has  modern design that caters for scalability.

Currently, all campus buildings are connected to the networks backbone via 1Gigabit fiber links, and all end stations are connected to  access  switches via 100 Megabits Ethernet links the network currently supports more than 4000 nodes, allowing users for connectivity to being monitored using advance network management tools.

Currently plans are to expand the network access to mobile users using wireless LANs.
