In the
center specified and supervised the implementation of the
University local area network (LAN) which connects all
university buildings and provides, at least, one network
outlet in each office. The adopted LAN technology is Gigabit
Ethernet with data rate up to 1 Gbps, over fiber optics
cables, between buildings and 10/100 Mbps, over UTP CAT-6
cables, to desktop. The University LAN supports now more
than 1500 node without accounting the nodes in the computer
labs. The department technical staff continuously monitors
and manages the network using specialized packages.
